How will the electricity problem of the islands of the world be solved through Dubai?
These islands started to be built in 2003 and until today they have been developed only as many fingers as one hand. One of the main needs and major challenges for the development of these islands is the electricity supply of these islands. Since these islands are 4 km away from the main land of Dubai, a self-supporting system of electricity supply is required to exist in these islands and be able to supply electricity to these islands.
Mehdi Honarvar, CEO, Floating Man and founder of the company said: During the research conducted by this company, we have come to the conclusion that the lack of electricity is one of the main concerns of the owners and developers of these islands. Therefore, they tend to develop the electricity supply infrastructure at this place as soon as possible and turn it into one of the most luxurious main hubs of marine tourism in Dubai.
What is the solution and how the technology is able to solve this challenge?
One of the best suggestions for providing electricity to places that do not have enough land to install solar, is to use the technology of floating solar structures to provide electricity. During the past year, various coastal countries and island countries have shown a great desire to develop floating solar structures in the sea.
How much electricity can be provided in the islands across the world with floating solar technology?
Post research, the company has come to the conclusion that considering that the all islands have 52 km of stone breakwaters that around them, and that this space is not being used, translates into 12 million square meters of area. This area has the potential to produce at least 1,560 MWh of electricity using the floating solar structure technology.
This number is significant, equivalent to 10 per cent of the total electricity produced in the city of Dubai. So, by using floating solar technology and the available space, the electricity needs of all the islands can be supplied. In addition, the additional electricity generated can be transferred to the mainland of Dubai by the floating power towers developed of this company, invented for the first time in the world.
If the islands of the world are supplied with electricity, these islands will have more productive uses and can host hotels and luxury residential buildings. Since the real estate market in Dubai is very prosperous, the settlement of these islands will increase the attraction of investors and tourists to Dubai, and Dubai’s marine tourism will attract more tourists.
These products are unique and we have launched them at wetex and Solar Dubai 2023 exhibition.
